Reversing a Debit Order On the App
You can dispute and reverse a standard debit order directly from home.
1. Sign in to the Capitec Bank app. 2. Tap Transact. 3. Tap Debit orders. 4. Choose the specific transaction from your history menu. 5. Tap Dispute. 6. Select the reason for your dispute. 7. Accept the agreement to complete the reversal.
Note: Capitec charges a small fee to dispute a debit order. If it is a "DebiCheck" debit order or an amount exceeding R400, you may need to visit a physical Capitec branch.
Reversing EFT Payments or Sent Money
If you accidentally sent funds to the wrong bank account number, the app cannot recall it automatically.
- Call Capitec Immediately: You must contact Capitec customer support or their fraud department directly.
- The Recall Process: Capitec will initiate a dispute/recall process with the recipient's bank. This process is not guaranteed and requires the recipient's permission to pull the money back.
- Fraud or Scams: If you have been scammed, you will need to open a case at a South African Police Service (SAPS) station to get an affidavit before the bank can assist further.
